Section 1:

CNM Malta Registration process for Non-EU citizens

Requıred Documents:

  • Application Form
  • Transcript of studies showing the number of hours of theoretical training and clinical practice. (Applications from applicants with at least 4600 hours in theory and practice in nursing subjects of which at least 1/3 (1533 hours) should be in theoretical practice in nursing studies and at least ½ (2300 hours) should be in clinical practice. However it is always up to the Council members to decide if a candidate is eligible or not).
  • Birth Certificate
  • Professional Certificates / Diplomas /Degree
  • Valid IELTS Certificate average score of at least 6 or OET with score of at least B in speaking and C+ in reading, writing, and listening.
  • Passport Document
  • Europass Curriculum Vitae in English
  • Recent Police conduct certificate (date must be not more than 3 months of date of application)
  • Reference letter / experience certificates
  • Verification Certificate (Registration certificate and Good Standing status certificate from Nursing Council of the country where applicants are registered) (Good standing certificate is the confirmation that registration is valid, certificate must not be older than 6 months of the date of application). Applicants must hold a valid registration in the country where the qualification was obtained.
  • MQRIC Recognition Letter (must be level 5 or 6) Copy of proof of €192.50 payable to the Council for Nurses and Midwives
  • Confirmation and acceptance letter that applicants has been accepted to attend one of the non EU nursing bridging courses as per information on cnm website

Non-EU trained applicants who submit their application for registration as a Nurse to the Council are required to attend a Non-EU nursing bridging course which is currently being offered by MCAST, University of Malta , and IDEA Academy   in order to be able  to complete the registration process

If you can find a job in healthcare services(care worker,live in carer etc.) and subsequently apply to the University of Malta, upon acceptance, you may be eligible to apply for a fee exemption, allowing you to study Bridging Course tuition-free at the University of Malta.

Section 2:

Renewal of nursing registration of NON EU trained Nurses and Midwives

Registered nurses and midwives who have been granted temporary registration and need to apply for renewal of the registration, are are to have worked as a nurse in Malta during the whole period of their registration and are to send copies of the documents listed below by email  to  [email protected]

1. Email asking to renew the registration with updated personal details and address.

2. Registration certificate

2. Last 3 payslips.

3. Copy of your ID card/resident permit

4. Recent police conduct certificate or GP 47 in case of government employees

5.Reference letter from your direct supervisor/s of the last two years to confirm that you have been employed as s nurse and have been practicing the nursing profession 

6. Employment record from Jobs plus.

Opening hours for the Public: Monday to Friday – 8:30am to 2:00pm.  However, in order to ensure availability of the Registrar, it is advised to set an appointment.
